Paintings.

I try to balance swift gestural strokes with fine attention to line and detail. One challenge is to couple the mechanical and architectural elements of the work with the soft and flowing natural light and background. Some of my favorite subjects are the rugged terrain and flora of the Midwestern landscape. In addition, the hard edge of a mechanical form, or the faded crusty paint on an old tractor inspires me to capture the texture, shade, and shadow into an intriguing composition.
